Little Princess Birthday / DIY
Hey! I hope you’re all doing fine. My sister’s daughter is turning 3 next week and I was thinking what I should give her as a birthday present. Now is a time period when she really likes fashion. She really likes everything girly especially dresses, so I decided to create her a small handbag to match her dresses. That handbag is really cool. How do I know? Pff, because I made one for myself earlier! And I really love it!
For this boho style bag you will need:
- About ~35m rope (It depends on the bag size you decide to make. I used linen rope, 4mm diameter)
- Hot glue gun
- Hot glue sticks (I was using 7mm hot glue sticks, for one bag I used about 7-10 sticks)
- Needle and thread
- Some Fabric
- Glue (I was using textile glue)
First of all you will need to start by making a little hook out of rope.
When you have your beginning, start to turn rope around it and stick it with hot glue like a snake or spiral. When you have made the right size circle, don’t cut the rope! Leave some of the rope for the shoulder strap.
If you already have two identical sized circles with “snaky tails”, leave them to dry and prepare two circles out of fabric. I chose a thicker fabric, just to keep the bag’s shape. Carefully outline the circles on a fabric and then cut them out. When the rope circles are dry, take some textile glue and stick the fabric circles to the internal bag parts. It is going to be like a lining of the bag. Great job, You’re almost done!
For the final step, close both bag sides together and sew it with a needle and thread. Also, don’t forget the tails that we’ve left. Sew it with the opposite side (like I showed in a picture). I really enjoy this bag, not because it looks cute, but because I’ve made it by myself and it was super cheap. I spend around 4.6€ for rope and glue sticks. And everything else I found at my house.
